When Black Women Dare to Travel: A Documentary That Inspires

This Women's History Month, we celebrate the power of movement—not just through time, but across borders. When Black Women Dare to Travel is more than a documentary; it’s a statement. A testament to the courage, curiosity, and resilience of Black women who have reclaimed their right to explore the world on their terms.

For too long, the narrative has been that we are bound by obligations, expectations, and

limitations imposed by history and society. This film disrupts that notion, showcasing Black women stepping into spaces once deemed inaccessible, experiencing cultures without apology, and redefining what freedom looks like. Through the voices of women who have dared to leave their comfort zones—physically, mentally, and emotionally—this documentary is a celebration of self-discovery, joy, and the audacity to live life fully.

A Journey to Morocco: Meeting Meryanne Loum-Martin

As part of our exploration, we traveled to Morocco, a country steeped in history, artistry, and undeniable magic. But the highlight of our journey wasn’t just the landscapes or the souks—it was our meeting with Meryanne Loum-Martin, the visionary owner of Jnane Tamsna, a luxury boutique hotel in Marrakesh.

Meryanne is a force, a woman who carved her own path in a male-dominated industry and built an oasis that fuses African heritage with contemporary elegance. Our conversation with her was more than inspiring; it was a masterclass in perseverance, creativity, and cultural pride. She spoke about the importance of creating spaces that honor history while embracing the future, and how Black women in particular must claim ownership of their narratives—not just in travel, but in every aspect of life. Her words served as a reminder that we are not just participants in history—we are architects of it.
